应天门始建于隋大业元年（605年），原名则天门，唐中宗神龙元年（705年）为避武则天讳改为应天门，俗称五凤楼。 Ying Tian Gate was first built in 605 AD‚ the first year of the Daye reign of the Sui Dynasty․ Originally named Zetian Gate‚ it was renamed Ying Tian Gate in 705 AD‚ the first year of the Shenlong reign of Emperor Zhongzong of the Tang Dynasty‚ to avoid the name taboo of Wu Zetian․ It is commonly known as the Five Phoenix Tower․
