Nosestudio is a new media art studio‚ established by digital creator Cho Hyunjoon․ Nosestudio began in 2012 as an electronic music project‚ and was expanded in 2018 into a digital visual studio‚ combining 3D animation and real-time rendering technology with sound․ In 2020‚ Nosestudios solo exhibition 《Digital Humor》 showcased various forms of digital particles‚ interactive sound infused with the artists unique humor‚ digital paintings‚ and installations‚ and the studios virtual characters Hemeko ＆ CH0_CH0s dance number Delusions Come True and the video game The Great Adventures of Hemeko ＆ CH0_CH0 were officially released․ Nosestudio strives to create new synesthetic experiences that combine game‚ video‚ sound‚ humor‚ regardless of medium‚ and is currently developing its main project‚ the game Ideology․ The game Ideology is in development as a mid-to-long term project․ This online multiplayer game depicts a virtual space inhabited by groups and communities of people with different ideologies․ Here‚ stat points such as MP or HP commonly seen in video games are replaced by emotional levels derived from social interactions․ These are quantified into stat points‚ and a few examples include Anger‚ Sad‚ Anti‚ Envy‚ Royalty‚ Wisdoms‚ Will‚ etc․ Stat points are designed to enable powers of aggression or healing‚ functioning as the core element of the game․ Like in previous Nosestudio projects‚ these keywords appear in their symbolic forms․ In PLURITOPIA‚ the work pleasure shows pleasure in its symbolic form․ Pleasure is a primal emotion that activates a human beings instinct‚ and even individuals with different ideologies will act with the same foundational force in the face of pleasure․ At the moment‚ it is only possible to experience the virtual world through audiovisual data․ Therefore‚ this project imagines a future where virtual space is experienced in multiple sensory dimensions‚ and visually depicts how a sense of smell may awaken the instinct․ The representation of aroma takes the form of an Audio-visual-olfactory Bot‚ shaped like a nose․ This is similar to an AI bot in other games‚ and a player wishing to experience an aroma may move to it‚ and through interactive behavior‚ heighten their pleasure levels․ This bot‚ which can exist both in virtual and real space‚ emits a different color aroma depending on which letter of the alphabet on the floor is chosen․ For each color‚ we might imagine a different aroma․ Such a device‚ prompting us to imagine smell through visual cues‚ by recalling the primal sense and urge of pleasure in the digital era of virtual spaces and blurred boundaries‚ seeks to integrate groups of various ideologies in a virtual space․
